56ers - Chicago Red Star Reserves: 0-1
Last home game of the 2014 season meant facing the toughest opponent yet, the best team in the Central Conference, Chicago Red Star Reserves. The first half an hour of the game was very even, with more dangerous scoring opportunities created by the 56ers. We had more of the possession and a few good crosses in the box, but the visitors opened the score in the 33rd minute. In the second half, Chicago started playing better, moved the ball around the midfield quickly but we were very well organized and only allowed a few good scoring chances. In the end it was a narrow defeat, but a game very well played by the 56ers.
Last two games of the 2014 season on the road
The 56ers WPSL will end the 2014 season with two difficult away games. First we travel to Columbia IL for the game against Fire & Ice on Sunday July 6th and then to the Twin Cities where we will be facing Minnesota Twin Stars on Saturday July 12th. It was a tough year so far with only one point won and a couple narrow defeats , so we hope to end it strong and win our first game on the road. As the home games are over, we would like to say Thank You to our fans for supporting us and attending games at Warner Park.
